The 2024 NAPPP/OPMP Peer Mediation Tournament is coming soon!! Peer Mediation Team A peer mediation team consists of the following members: two disputants and two mediators. Registration The school’s peer mediation coordinator/administrator/counselor/teacher may register a team. Registration per team is $40.00. Once the fee is processed, the team will be registered for the tournament. Each school will receive a confirmation email with the next steps. A limited number of scholarships are available for schools. Registration begins on January 2 nd and closes January 31 st . There is no limit to the number of teams...

(Adopted 1978; Revised 1984, 1993, 1999, 2002, 2008, 2015) American School Counselor Association (ASCA) Position ASCA believes peer support programs are a means of helping students develop social/emotional competencies, define positive values including personal responsibility and learn pro-social behaviors (Varenhorst, 2004). Furthermore, ASCA believes the effectiveness of school counseling programs is enhanced by the informed implementation of a peer support program, which can provide increased outreach and expansion of services. The Rationale Research indicates students often communicate their problems to their peers rather than to parents, administrators or school counselors (Tanaka & Reid, 1997).
